2 Part Mani: Step 1: Layering: Revlon Whimsical

For this mani I used

  • 1 coat Orly Nail Defense
  • 2 coats Orly Nail Armour
  • 2 coats Revlon Blue Lagoon
  • 2 coat Revlon Whimsical
  • 2 coats of Julep Carrie for accent nail
  • 1 coat Seche Vite
  • Acetone and brush for post clean up
  • Apply cuticle oil and hand lotion

  • Revlon Blue Lagoon: a shimmery powder blue polish
  • Revlon Whimsical: a powder blue jelly polish with large pink and blue glitters and very small pieces of blue and silver glitter
  • Julep Carrie: a pink creme polish that coordinates with the pink glitters in Revlon Whimsical

I had to allow for extra drying time because I applied more coats than I usually do.

  1. This screams Easter to me. What's the purpose of the Orly Defense & Armour? Wouldn't a regular base coat work just as fine?

    1. I use a nutritional base and a ridge filler. My nails are thin and ridgy. Double protection works well for me. And if you think it's Easter now, wait till I add the bunnies and eggs. Lol! But seriously, I'll use this for Easter now! That's a great idea!

  2. I have ridges in my nails from some acrylics a while back and I use Sally Hansen's Complete Care Extra Moisturizer and it has made my nails smoother and a little stronger but I still have ridges, would you recommend both of these? And if you don't mind, will you check out my blog & let me know if you have any suggestions or comments, pls?

    1. I can't say for certain what will work for you. It seems like everyone likes something different. I love ridge filler! I just started using the Orly Nail Defense treatment and the Orly Nail Armor Ridge filler. So far so good, but usually it takes a few weeks before you really see if the treatments are helping. Ridge filler fills in the ridges, makes your nails harder, makes your nails appear whiter and makes your polish go on much better. So I'd say yes, give it a shot. Just put on your regular base and a ridge filler over that. Lots of brands make it. I've tried Nail Tek II Nail Foundation and Beauty Secrets Ridge filler (the Sally's Beauty Supply brand, very inexpensive) I like both a lot. I decided to try the Orly brand because I had a good coupon. It's only $6 normally though. So not too bad. And I will check out your blog! Thanks for the link!
