My October 2012 Birchbox

I got my October Birchbox today in the mail. I'm not sure why, but the company sent me an email before the box came, that basically said what was in the box. I don't like that. I like to be surprised. So it took a little of the fun out of it. Anyway, here's what I got this month:

What do you think of this months box? Worth $10?

I don't mind the price. It's not much to pay for the service and I do really enjoy getting these boxes. However, this definitely wasn't one of the better boxes they have sent. I love the full size Essie polish OF COURSE. I wasn't real thrilled with any of the other items and I"ll be passing them along to a friend. I think the box could have used one more full size item, and I'd like to see something a little more exciting than lotions and cleansers.

Birchbox  is a monthly subscription that costs just $10 a month: no obligation to continue. Cancel at anytime.
You earn points for taking a short survey on each item in your box, for each box you receive, for anything you purchase on the website, and for referrels. You can use these points to buy items on their website.

I SPENT MY BIRCHBOX POINTS!!! WOOHOOO! FREE STUFF! and Zoya Swatch SPAM!

So I had 800 BirchBox points to spend. You know, those points you get for rating the products you get inside your box each month? You also get them for each month you are subscribed to the service. Between the surveys and the subscriber points you get each month, that is anywhere from 60-100 points each month. They also have a good referrel program where you get points for referring people. You also get points for shopping on their website. But honestly, I only had one refferrel and I've never purchased anything off of the site. So my points were strictly from the boxes I get each month and rating the products in them.

Well....after 9 months of being a subscriber, I finally decided to blow all my 800 accrued points (worth $80).
Here's what I picked out and it was all FREE!!!! Even the shipping!!!
WOOHOOO!!!!

Tweezerman Tweezers: A $22 Value
I gave my hubby my good set of tweezers and I was on the market for a replacement set. I don't like cheap tweezers. Sorry...once you've had the good kind, can you really go back? Besides, a good set lasts forever! But these babies were FREE!

J.R. Watkins Peppermint Foot Balm: A $8.99 Value
I was almost out of foot balm. I use balm on my feet as soon as I get out of the shower. I slough any dead skin off of my feet, with a foot file, in the shower. Then, after my shower,I rub foot balm on my feet. I like balms better than my normal body lotion because it is thick and really sinks in.

For any other moisturizer I would NEVER choose such an obnoxious scent as peppermint. But for my feet, the more obnoxious the better! I have a green apple foot balm that is divine!!! Anyway, I'm excited to try this product and it's a very large tub, so it's going to last me a good long while.

Zoya Gems and Jewels Collection: $8 Per Bottle Value
Would you check out these pretty babies!!!! Did you know BB sold polish? Heck yes they do!!! Deborah Lippman and Color Club too. It's worth saving points just for polish, if you ask me. I also have a joke about the fact that I refuse to pay for Zoya. It's not that I don't like them, I love them: but I have found so many deals and specials and ways to get this polish for free (and this is completely without using their Share The Love program to any degree). I find if I'm patient and diligent, there is always some amazing sale or deal at a third party retailer.

I normally don't do swatches, but I was really felt the need to "show you the polish". I'm absolutely in love with them.

*All swatches are one coat each, no top or base-coats
