I would imagine if your nails are strong enough it wouldn't matter. I use Seacret oil drops on my nails. So I'm with you on moisturizing. Acetone dries me out. The oil counter acts that. Glass files don't tear at your nails like all the other file materials do. I won't let anything else touch my nails and I give them often for little gifts. Also, am a big fan of keeping your nails hydrated.
